Every single piece of Dior's cruise collection represents whats I would call effortless beauty, like if Raf Simons was born to design it. But at a deeper glance it is visible that is exactly the contrary. The greatness of this collection is the process, is everything that the iconoclast Simons is doing to readapt his art and fit it into Dior's canons. It's the designer challenging himself and working with materials he never liked, like the lace. A challenge that Raf Simon is winning collection after collection, while he redefines and relaunch Dior's esthetic. Chapeau.
Ogni singolo pezzo della collezione cruise di Dior rappresenta per me quello che gli inglesi chiamano effortless style, quasi come se il designer belga fosse nato per disegnare per Dior, come se tutto si confacesse perfettamente alla sua estetica. In realtà si tratta proprio del contrario. Si tratta della capacità dell'iconoclastata Simons di riadattare la sua arte per avvicinarla a quella di Dior, sfidando se stesso e mettendosi alla prova con materiali che non ha mai amato, come il pizzo. Una sfida a sé stesso che, collezione dopo collezione, sta ridefinendo e rilanciando l'estetica di Dior. Chapeau.
